This week, a decision was made to dismiss the artistic director of the Lithuanian National Drama Theater (LNDT), Oskars Koršunovas. This decision of the administration was influenced by the negligent performance of the direct duties of the artistic director and systematic absences, according to the LNDT press release.
"We regret that we have to take this step, but we can no longer tolerate continuous violations of work discipline. We communicated with the director, we hoped for a change for some time, unfortunately, we did not get a positive result", says LNDT General Director Martynas Budraitis.
LNDT already canceled the planned premiere of O. Koršunov based on H. Ibsen's play "The Wild Duck", which was supposed to take place in 2023. In January. This was done after assessing the fact that O. Koršunovas only participated in the initial readings of the play, later he did not attend the planned rehearsals and did not provide an explanation for such behavior.
Spectators who bought tickets to the performance "The Wild Duck" were sent information about the cancellation of the performance with an offer to purchase tickets to the next performance shown in the theater.
