Construction in Vilnius for the third decade National Stadium has long been an object of ridicule. Residents have already lost hope that the stadium will ever be built in Vilnius. Meanwhile, someone on Google Maps decided to make a joke and from now on the stadium has been renamed… a little differently.
"Lithuanian national shame", with a Google rating of just 2,1 points. This is the name of the National Stadium. It is not surprising - after all, attempts to build this stadium have been going on for decades.
It seems that the residents think that this project already deserves such a name. Of course, if the stadium is built, this name will also disappear from the search engine. For now, it is as it is.

National Stadium The real estate (RT) development company "Males"owner Arvydas Avulis recently said that the project aims to resume construction at the end of June.
At the end of May, the European Commission (EC) finally approved the construction of the national stadium construction in Vilnius amendments to the concession agreement – it provides for the provision of state aid to the project.
For his part, Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas stated that the Government will decide on the state contribution to the national stadium project in Vilnius after a conversation with the Mayor of Vilnius and after clarifying the deadlines and possibilities for implementing the project.
Last August, the Vilnius City Council approved changes to the complex's concession agreement - after changing the risk sharing, the project will cost the municipality and the state about 155,1 million euros.
Vilnius city municipality then agreed with the indexation alternative presented by VPT, according to which 7,4 million euros of assets would not be indexed, and in addition, the project risk for the municipality would be reduced and the risk for the concessionaire would be increased.
Vilnius Municipality and the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports signed a 2021-year concession agreement with the company "Vilnius Multipurpose Complex" in October 25, and construction began in the fall of 2023 by the company "Naresta". Construction is currently suspended.
