The British production company "72 films" and the Lithuanian film production company "Virtus Mediae" are filming the TV series "Rise of the Nazis" on behalf of BBC2 in Lithuania. This is already the third season of the restorative documentary TV series. It looks at the final months of Nazi Germany and Hitler's time in the bunker.
Filming in Vilnius since April 22 in the old town it will be possible to see actors wearing Nazi symbols and military uniforms of that era. You really shouldn't panic about it. "In order to properly recreate the period depicted, some of the actors will be wearing military uniforms and Nazi symbols." - shared the film's producer Ross Booker. "These symbols do not glorify the past in any way, on the contrary - by recreating the past, we seek to deconstruct those events, showing their evil."
The last season of the series will examine the collapse of the Nazi regime, looking back at the years 1944-1945 and A. Hitler living in an illusion until the last moments, unwilling to recognize the reality that was pressing him more and more. The series will show the enormous toll this regime's clinging to illusions brings to the ordinary people of Germany, while the main government hides from the world in a bunker.
The first two seasons of the BBC2 series were already filmed in Vilnius. Using archival material, a reconstructive documentary method, and providing the insights of historians explaining how the main figures of the Nazi regime shaped Germany's destiny after the end of the war, the film's creative team will aim to illustrate the reasons why the regime collapsed. The third season is directed by Alice Smith, a British director specializing in restorative documentaries. Lithuanian actors will appear in the film, and Andrius Rožickas will once again play the main role.
"We want to thank you for being able to film the third season of the series in Vilnius. It wouldn't be possible without such great help from the city." - thanked the representatives of "72Films". This time, the series is being filmed in a very sensitive and difficult period. "We understand how important it is to tell a story in order not to repeat past mistakes. We hope to show this to the new generation." – shared producer R. Booker.
