Construction of the pedestrian promenade near the Business Stadium West business complex is nearing completion. Hundreds of elements of landscape architecture
According to Ramunė Sanderson, a landscape architect at UAB "Terra Firma LT", assisting the London studio, Martha Schwartz's work is probably the most daring public space project in Lithuania.
"The distinctive feature of this architect and her team, which provides services all over the world, is the boldness of solutions, the formation of a memorable local character. She is not afraid of colors, sculptural modern forms, but at the same time she strives to ensure that the public spaces of cities are comfortable for people and encourage them to communicate," says R. Sanderson. The architect estimates that hundreds of elements of landscape architecture are used to create unique spaces in Vilnius.
"The project combines solutions for water, lighting, greenery, and leisure infrastructure. For example, six different types of lighting are used in public spaces, and for this project, unique fiberglass lamps are being created, the highest of which will reach 8 meters, and the distance between the supports will be 18 meters. 170 trees will also be brought. All of them will be planted in specially formed artificial hills with individual irrigation and lighting systems. Mature trees will be planted to make the space immediately cozy and attractive to visitors," says R. Sanderson. According to her, five different types of water solutions will also be installed on the territory - from a fountain occupying almost 150 sq. year's area, up to rainwater basins, dozens of benches and tribunes have also been installed. For winter events, a heated outdoor grandstand will be created at the Business Stadium West business center.
