Maintenance work is being renewed between Vingriau and Mindaugas streets, nearby MO Museum, where a new public space will open - the Vingrių springs square.
In June, the works were temporarily suspended, as the technological solutions for the project implementation were being refined. It has been established that it is inevitable to additionally strengthen the ground cover and to carry out a partial replacement of the soil. The decision to continue work at the construction site was made by mutual agreement with the contractors.
Currently, in the future square, the heat network tracks are being renewed, rainwater and sewage networks are being built, and additional drainage is being installed, which is necessary to supplement the water cascades.
It is expected that the project will be completed by the end of this year and another recreation and recreation space will be opened for the citizens of Vilnius next season.
Vingriau cross street is very popular with pedestrians, it is convenient to reach Senamiestis from Mindaugas street. The reviving square is divided into several separate functional zones: one will be equipped with exhibition elements, the other will open a transit pedestrian zone. The square will be marked with one of the oldest watering places in Vilnius - Exercise sources, objects of contemporary art will also appear nearby.
Even in the Middle Ages, Vingria springs were the most watery place in the city. The water of the Vingriau stream, which starts at this place, was suitable for drinking. A water supply system developed a few hundred years ago was considered modern, as water reached consumers by underground wooden pipes. There are data that Vingria springs produced 70 thousand buckets of water per day.
Now a space will be established in the former watering hole, spreading a historical, cultural and educational message, thus integrating the face of old Vilnius into the life of a contemporary and modern metropolis. Sidewalks and terrace stairs will be renewed in the square, observation paths will be installed. Green areas have been formed, children's playgrounds have been installed, the necessary engineering and stormwater network systems have been arranged. The value of the project is EUR 1.
