The park of control vehicles named after "Vilnius Skydas" will allow the installation of 55 blocking points in the east of the capital, says the city mayor Valdas Benkunskas.
"The need was calculated so that we could install 55 blocking points looking at the eastern area of the city. Knowing the specifics, there could be about three blocking posts on one road," he said at the park's presentation on Wednesday. V. Benkunskas.
"This might not help stop the enemy completely, but the main goal is to ensure that if necessary, upon receiving a military order, we could help the military stop the enemy's physical invasion," he noted.
According to the mayor, the park cost the municipality 760 thousand euros and consists of three parts: dragon teeth, road urchins, and concrete blocks for the blockade.
"Today, we have essentially acquired a fully prepared countermobility fleet, which would allow us to block, working with the military and all national defense institutions, (...) the entire eastern side, trying to protect the city from a physical invasion by the enemy," said V. Benkunskas.
As BNS wrote, the park was established at the city's initiative and is part of Vilnius' defense policy plan.
"Vilnius Skydas" has been coordinated with the Ministry of National Defence, but it is not on the Government's list of counter-mobility parks.
