For the fourth year, the "Kuriu Vilnių" competition, which decorates the capital's spaces in a modern way, is back - artists can win up to 70. euros, proposing an idea and realizing it in the chosen area of the capital. In total, the capital city municipality allocates 0,5 million for the implementation of ideas. euros, and applications are pending until 2021. February 15
"During the first three years of its existence, the Kuriu Vilnius program positively changed the face of the city, especially the districts further from the center, and inspired the creation of many great talents. With the support of the municipality, an authentic work of art appeared in almost all of the city's wards, which became the center of attraction. This era is difficult for everyone, but it also opens up new paths that encourage creativity: I invite artists to create, propose their ideas, beautify and make their city famous", invited the mayor of the capital Remigius Šimašius.
Works of art are especially welcome in the city spaces that are prioritized at this stage of the program - Karoliniškės, Fabijoniškės and Naujininkai. Karoliniškės and Fabijoniškės have not yet received a single "Kuriu Vilnių" object, while Naujininkai is a rapidly changing district that has the ambition to become the gateway to the city, where they want to organize public spaces, enliven the living environment - to raise Naujininkai to a completely different level and grow the district anew. This year, we encourage you not to limit yourself to drawing or sculptural elements, to look for and offer more diverse solutions.
Vilnius also invites you to propose ideas on how to turn a standard old metal garage into a work of art - currently such garages are being removed all over the city, freeing up state land for public spaces and infrastructure development. If the idea proposed by the artists is original and acceptable, the municipality plans to find a place for one or more such garages in public spaces and leave them as an artistic sign reminding of the disappearing metal garage culture.
Ideas on how to upgrade the underpass by raising the old stalls are also very welcome Lazdynas (at Erfurt st. 1).
This year, apartment communities appeared, which offer to choose the walls of their house for artworks, thus easing organizational concerns for artists. Specific places will be published in the description of the "Kuriu Vilnių" service, and for more information, please contact the program coordinator.
Applications are accepted until February 15 of the following year. midnight and only electronically. The organizers request that the size of the uploaded application does not exceed 20 MB.
