The capital's fountains bring even more life to the city once they are operational. According to Mantvydas Šakalis, director of Poolservice.LT, the company implementing and maintaining fountain projects, all fountains in Vilnius are safe because they have modern automatic or manual disinfection systems.
"Automatic disinfection is carried out by introducing a liquid sodium hypochlorite solution (biocide). Manual dosing is carried out by adding chlorine tablets to the water. It has been scientifically confirmed that sodium hypochlorite is used for disinfection against COVID-19. This is also confirmed by the recommendations of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania," the fountain expert assures.
"The most important thing is for Vilnius residents and guests of the capital to be aware and continue to follow the recommendations of health care specialists and sensibly enjoy the gradual easing of quarantine restrictions. We hope that the beginning of the fountain season will give everyone joy and hope that everything will be fine", says M. Šakalys.
Vilnius fountains will work until the first frosts. New for this summer season are the fountains of the Presidential Palace and Washington Square, scheduled to open in early July.
