It is already possible to see how a new place in Vilnius looks like - Šnipiškiu Square. Although there has been no official opening yet, discussions have been going on online for some time. Some call the square terrible, others defend it and urge to wait for spring, until the lawn and other green highlights of the square turn green. We decided to ask the people of Vilnius how they value the new place in the city.
Even 40 percent of those surveyed (386 votes) say that they do not like the square and that everything does not fit in it. Another 14 percent (136 votes) say they like the square, but it would be nicer without the blue elements.
"It turned out to be a very nice park. Blue is the normal color. The problem is ugly barns, which some call wooden garages and metal garages," the comments read.
29 percent praise the square. respondents (280 votes), they really liked the new leisure place in Vilnius. The question turned out to be irrelevant for 17 percent. of respondents (167 votes).
"Nice square, go for a walk. Before that, there were garages here, and now it is a European-level multi-purpose square," residents write.
The MadeinVilnius.lt survey took place from Monday, March 4, to Friday, March 8. A total of 969 residents participated in it.
We remind you that in the first days of the square's operation, there was a discussion among residents on social networks, where they wondered why the metal structures were painted blue, although this was not the case in the visualizations. UAB "Vilniaus vystymo kompaniya" assures that the project was implemented according to the project, and no one coordinated the colors of the metal structures in the project.
The project was developed taking into account the needs of the community in order to equip this place with various functional areas suitable for spending leisure time. The main highlight of the square will be a roof-terrace, under which it will be possible to hold various events or fairs, and sit on the terrace to admire the view from above. A children's and sports area will also be established in the square.
Landscaping of the area will resemble a city garden with ornamental fruit trees - Manchurian walnut trees, broad-leaved pears, ornamental apple trees, as well as common chestnuts, willows and Japanese rowan will be planted.
