A meeting was held at the Vilnius Department of the National Public Health Center with the responsible persons of the Vilnius City Municipality Administration, the Public Institution "Naktinis Vilniaus Biuras" and the residents of Vilniaus Street, during which the Vilnius Department of the National Public Health Center proposed to join forces in finding effective solutions to reduce the problem of noise emitted by places providing leisure services.
The meeting presented the results of noise and low-frequency sound measurements conducted in the living environment of residents of Vilniaus St. The main source of noise is music inside nightclubs.
Representatives of the Vilnius Department of the NVSC noted that a high concentration of simultaneously operating leisure service venues causes a significant negative impact on the residential environment due to the excess of low-frequency sound and noise, and drew attention to the fact that the premises where noisy activities are carried out are not properly insulated from noise.
Representatives of the Vilnius Department of the NVSC emphasized that the currently valid Vilnius city municipalities The Noise Prevention Rules in Public Places approved by the Director of the Administration do not provide for essential aspects of noise management - especially in the activities of bars, cafes and other places providing leisure services - and pointed out that it is necessary to establish stricter requirements for economic operators.
All participants in the meeting agreed that the problem of noise emitted by leisure facilities should also be addressed at the legislative level.
