Last year "Lithuanian railways” introduced an innovation: next to the trains of the station installed a Track Park, where you can walk and look at old trains. True, last year it was possible to get inside old trains - now this entertainment is gone.
Back in the fall, visitors could enter the old train cars and even "visit" the car-in a restaurant. Such trains no longer run in Lithuania, so it was real entertainment for visitors. However, "Lietuvos Geležinkeliai" blocked the access of old trains in the spring with a "STOP" strip.
"In order to ensure the safety of both the visitors and the museum exhibits, the Railway Museum invites you to visit the inside of the rolling stock during the events held in Bėgiu Park and during the educations organized by the museum," commented Novilė Valančė, the representative of Lietuvos Geležinkeliai AB.
So, visitors who want to look inside the old trains will have to wait for the right opportunity. The last time you could get inside the trains was during the museum night.
The track park is open to visitors every day from 8 a.m. to 22 p.m. Access to the park is via stairs from the pedestrian overpass Vilnius railway station or come or ride a bike through the gate on the Pelesa street side.
