The Pilaitė football arena covered with an inflatable dome opens on Tuesday - it was planned to open last fall, but the opening was delayed due to technical obstacles.
"It was completed (...) Throughout that period, there were issues related to the technical issues of construction, because the object is new, neither the engineers nor the builders had experience," the vice mayor told BNS Valdas Benkunskas.
According to him, even the designers did not know how to treat the soccer field covered with an inflatable white dome - as a temporary structure or not, and there were also obstacles in the design expertise.
"There were such obstacles that prolonged it month after month," said one of the managers of the capital.
According to V. Benkunskas, there are currently no plans to release the inflated dome - it is planned to do so only next summer.
"Seeing what the temperature was inside when there were hot days, maybe next season we will probably need to release it." These are additional costs - they will cost several tens of thousands of euros per season," he claimed V. Benkunskas.
The new football arena belongs to the Pilaitė Gymnasium, which will use the infrastructure for its own purposes, and in their free time, children will be able to train on the field, and other football lovers will be able to play.
According to the vice mayor, the rent will be available from September, and the installation of infrastructure cost the municipality about 2 million. euros, the artificial surface of the field was donated by the Lithuanian Football Federation.
