The Directorate of Pavilniai and Verkiai Regional Parks announces that the installation work of the protection system for migratory amphibians in the Ribiškii Landscape Reserve is rapidly coming to an end.
"Most of the protective walls and culverts have already been installed. The new system will supplement the existing one with new elements that were critically missing. Despite the existing system and temporary fences installed every year, frogs and toads migrating to the peat to spawn were killed on the road. At the same time, it posed a danger to traffic safety," the report reads.
The project is implemented according to Vilnius city municipalities environmental protection support 2023 special program measure "Implementation of biodiversity conservation measures in Pavilniai regional park".
