"BaltCap” intensively looking for ways to get out of the deal for National Stadium construction in Vilnius, asserts Aleksandras Nemunaitis, a member of the capital's municipal council. According to him, the aforementioned company does not receive financing, and the contract for the construction price does not provide for indexation, upon BaltCap's request.
BaltCap is looking for all kinds of ways to get out of the deal. And intensively, and even enough large companies went to apply for a loan to those banks that are mentioned: and "Swedbank", and SEB. They don't get financing, even with the help of other guarantors," A. Nemunaitis said to LRT radio on Tuesday.
"The fact that the mayor and the head of administration received a request to index the price on October 6. and to this day I even have to go to court to demand a copy of the letter that BaltCap applied for, that says a lot too. (…) This is not a contract. Indexation is possible for the contract of contract, indexation is not possible for the concession contract, and indexation is not provided for in the contract," he explained.
However Vilnius city municipalities Linas Kvederavičius, a member of the Freedom faction of the council, emphasized that the contract for the construction of the stadium is not bad and that indexation is provided for in it. He also testified that he had no information that BaltCap wanted to terminate the contract.
"The contract is not bad for the people of Vilnius, because Vilnius does not pay a cent for the stadium until it is built. Everything is within the framework of the contract, insofar as there are provisions in the contract that indexation is possible, BaltCap is trying to take advantage of that circumstance," said L. Kvederavičius.
"So far, I personally have no indication that BaltCap would like to terminate the contract, as a member of the council. If that happens, BaltCap will come out of this game as a loser," he explained.
