Director Oskars Koršunovas, who was dismissed from the post of artistic director of the Lithuanian National Drama Theater (LNDT) in December, has appealed to the Labor Disputes Commission, the theater confirmed to BNS on Monday.
"Oh Korshunovas appealed to the Labor Disputes Commission, disputing the dismissal. The date of the decision is not yet known," states LNDT in a comment sent to BNS.
The artist himself previously said that he did not intend to appeal the dismissal decision because he did not see the point.
The theater has claimed that O. Koršunov's dismissal was influenced by the negligent performance of the direct duties of the artistic director and systematic absences.
LNDT also canceled the planned premiere of O. Koršunov based on H. Ibsen's play "The Wild Duck", it was supposed to take place in January. This was done considering the fact that O. Koršunovas only participated in the initial readings of the play, later he stopped attending the planned rehearsals and did not provide an explanation for his behavior.
The director himself has claimed that he had no freedom to create, and that mobbing was used against him. According to the artist, he was not invited to the meetings, did not participate in creating the repertoire.
According to the director, at first there was cooperation between him and the management, a five-year theater strategy was formed, but later O. Koršunovas claims that he was eliminated.
