In the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, a record snowfall this season is expected in the country. The territory managers have already prepared for it - the Vilnius city cleaning companies "Mano aplinka" and "Stebulė" will send around 800 cleaners, close to 100 mopeds and almost four dozen tractors to clean the sidewalks in the morning. Despite the maximum forces, residents are encouraged to walk with extreme caution.
While waiting for the natural disaster, the managers of the territories prepared action plans in advance: in the coming days, the cleaners will work from dawn, maximum forces will be mobilized. While waiting for the heaviest rainfall this winter season so far, "Mano aplinka" also purchased additional equipment - Bobcat snow plows. Mechanics who inspected the equipment arsenal on Tuesday ensured that all available equipment will be sent to the territories. The cleaners themselves are also ready to spare no effort.
"Weather forecasts show that the heaviest snowfall is expected on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, in Vilnius - between 5 and 8 p.m. morning We are intensively preparing to clean the sidewalks of the capital and we will do it already in the morning", informed Diana Lubė, head of the territory management department of the company "Mano aplinka", which oversees most of the public spaces of the city of Vilnius. The janitors are willing to work in several shifts, because otherwise the layer of snow would quickly become an unbearable burden.
It should drop to 14 degrees already on Thursday night. "This means that we will be working at maximum speed on Wednesday to keep the snow from freezing and to provide pedestrians with the best possible conditions." We will work intensively, because this snow will not melt so quickly", emphasized D. Lubė. She specified that the priority areas will be cleaned first: bus stops, main sidewalks near the streets, crossings, as well as stairs and other places with the greatest flow of people.
Residents are encouraged to take precautions: wear comfortable shoes and, if possible, stay at home until the main passages are cleared. "Take care of your health and encourage others to do so, especially elderly parents or neighbors." We will work with all our strength, but it is not easy to overcome nature", requests the territory managers.
