The CUP shopping center located in the center of the capital, which is celebrating its 700th anniversary this year, welcomes a colorful 3D video projection. The impressive light work combining the symbols of Vilnius and artistically transformed graphic elements will be available to admire on January 25-28. The projection, which transforms the usual view of the shopping center's architecture, will be visible from 18:23 to XNUMX:XNUMX from the side of A. Goštautos and Upės streets. The author of the piece is Linartas Urniežis, a well-known creator of video graphics and animation in the country.
In the image projection - the symbols of Vilnius
"Being located in the very heart of Vilnius, we observe the rapidly changing Vilnius central business district, we are happy with its youthfulness. I think it perfectly conveys the work created by L. Urniežius for the capital birthday wish – 3D video projection. The shopping center's wish for Vilnius is to continue to be a cozy, modern and at the same time interesting, colorful European city for both the people who live here and its guests, while nurturing its best traditions," says Ona Nevinskienė, manager of the CUP shopping center.
According to L. Urniežis, the author of the video projection dedicated to the birthday of the capital, the basis of the work is the desire to congratulate Vilnius on its birthday, and the central theme is complemented by the environment of the Vilnius Light Festival taking place these days.
"We used various compilations with the most famous symbols of the city, buildings, including elements of the logo of the capital's jubilee year, their transformations. We have created several scenes that combine all the important buildings of the capital into one place. In addition, the birthday celebration is about colors that reflect the colorfulness of life, so we chose colorful animation and introduced pop art elements. We wanted there to be no commercial, but only a charge of colors and good mood," says the artist.
According to L. Urniežis, similar 3D technologies are unique in that they can, as it were, overshadow the concrete visual impression that we all see. "For example, we are used to seeing the CUP building illuminated, at the same time architecturally calm and with many details. With the help of 3D technology, we can transform this impression. By playing with three-dimensionality, we change the image of two recognizable facade walls - we create a new spectacle, perfectly visible both from Upės Street and from A. Goštauto Street", explains the artist.
