When the Neris River is covered with ice due to the cold, it is noticed that more and more people are climbing on the ice for fun or just for a walk and maybe even to take a "selfie". The Vilnius municipality reminds that it is better not to risk your life and the lives of your loved ones because of such a shot, but there is also a fine waiting for that.
"Vilnius, winter pleasures are pleasures when you can enjoy them safely and without risking your health or the health of those around you," reminds Vilnius city municipality.
Yesterday alone, public order officers punished 12 careless citizens of Vilnius. True, the first time the fine is more symbolic, just 8 euros, but the people of Vilnius should have understood the message.
The Vilnius City Municipality reminds that Article 491 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Lithuania states that the violation of the rules of safe behavior in the water of surface water bodies and on the ice of surface water bodies approved by the Municipal Councils entails a fine from sixteen to sixty euros. A repeated violation will result in a fine from sixty to one hundred and forty euros.
