This week, the works of stocking Lithuanian rivers with tendrils were completed. The fish farmers of the Fisheries Service under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania released 18 thousand pcs of these rare fish yearlings - 9 thousand each. pcs to every river. Recently, the abundance of these fish has decreased in some of the country's rivers, so their replenishment is necessary.
The specialists of the Fisheries Service have been making great efforts for several years in a row to restore the minnow resources in the rivers of Lithuania. These bream fish are artificially bred and raised in the Fish Breeding Department of the Fish Breeding Department of the Fisheries Service in the Eastern Region - Trakai Voke. A successfully formed breeder herd of mustaches is also grown in the department.
It was not easy for the specialists of the Fisheries Service to start artificial breeding of wrasse. In the past, the spawning time of fish kept in concrete ponds was highly dependent on outside temperature conditions, which cannot be controlled. Therefore, in the spring, with a sudden rise in temperature, the eggs overripe and become unsuitable for fish breeding. After moving the whiskers to a special closed water circulation system, the problem was solved. in 2019 specialists of the service successfully carried out artificial breeding of mustaches, obtained the first viable larvae of mustaches and successfully began to stock the country's water bodies.
in 2019 4 thousand in October pcs Two of these were released into the Neris River for the first time this year. in 2021 also to stock 4 thousand pcs of these fish, only grown up to the stage of yearlings. Last year, Lithuanian rivers were enriched by 6 thousand pcs mustache this year. The number of yearlings released this year is three times higher. The average weight of stocked tendrils is 5 g.
