In October, Lithuanian and foreign films and series are filmed in Vilnius. This time, the filming locations will be not only the well-known locations of the old town, but also the Naujininkai microdistrict and the market place of New Vilnius.
Director Gintė Regina's short film "Conductors on Street" is being filmed in Vilnius. According to the creators, the idea for the film was born to the director two years ago, when she returned to Lithuania after 14 years of living in the United Kingdom and settled in Naujininkai, Konduktoriių Street. The main filming will take place in the exteriors and private interiors of this street. Conductor Street has a unique character - wooden houses still stand here, dogs and children run around, and trains run along the nearby tracks. This street is like a time machine that preserves the past. As a creator, Ginte is interested in the possibility of perpetuating what is already disappearing.
The film tells the story of finding one's roots in a world that is constantly moving forward. In order to find her grandmother's house, a young woman returns to Vilnius, a city where the past is rapidly disappearing for the sake of the future. Until the night, she wanders through the changing streets and encounters the locals. The film is a poetic reflection on constant movement and the desire to belong. Actress Gintarė Parulytė will play the main role in the film.
Director Aušra Giedraitytė's debut short film is also being filmed in Vilnius, which tells the story of a young couple facing the challenges of a chronic illness and the fragility of life.
“This film will delve into the dynamics of relationships, exploring themes of love, vulnerability and resilience. The work will aim to convey a complex image of human relations, leaving an impression on both Lithuanian and foreign viewers. With this realistic drama based on autobiographical details, I aim to reveal the psychological portraits of two people in the face of an incurable disease. I aim to create a connection between two people who love each other, a feeling of limitation and a struggle with the fragility of life," says the director of the film, A. Giedraitytė.
Swedish creators and the team of the Lithuanian feature film "Barakuda" also work in the capital.
