Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, Santara clinics stopped visiting patients in 2 departments, Vilija Gurkšnienė, head of the clinics' Infection Control Department, says that this is a routine practice and such measures are taken in case of any infectious disease, especially upper respiratory tract infections.
"This is a local and temporary solution to ensure that the impact of external factors is reduced. Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 disease in the 2nd departments - Internal Medicine Diagnostics and 2nd Cardiology Departments, attendance was temporarily suspended until March 5. in order to mobilize personnel and reduce external influence", V. Gurkšnienė said in a comment to the media.
She adds that delivery of parcels to patients of closed departments is still ensured.
"If you wish to deliver packages to your loved ones, please leave them at the information desk on the first floor of the main building, next to the cloakroom. Don't forget to write the name of your relative, the patient's name and the department in which he is lying on the package", V. Gurkšnienė addressed the relatives of patients lying in closed wards.
The representative of the clinics invites the public to remain aware and not to visit their relatives if symptoms of any infectious disease are felt.
ELTA reminds that on Wednesday Vilnius University hospitals Santara clinics, in order to control the worsening epidemiological situation due to COVID-19, announced until next week, Sunday, March 5, that they will stop visiting patients in the Department of Internal Medicine Diagnostics and the second Department of Cardiology.
"For exceptional cases, we invite you to consult with the heads of the departments," states the clinic's press release.
