A recently opened public space next door MO Museum became a new attraction. Vilnius residents spend their free time in Vingria springs square, and small children willingly play with the water of the stream. However, sediment has started to accumulate in the square's water channel and it no longer looks as aesthetically pleasing as it did when it was opened.
As it turned out, this is not the first time sediment has accumulated. As the city municipality said, the canal was already being cleaned. This time the script will need to be repeated.
"The channel of the Vingri springs square has already been cleaned since the opening of the square, and now it will also be fixed. It is likely that sediments accumulate due to the possibly high iron content of the water," said Gabrielius Grubinskas, Vilnius city municipalities Media relations specialist.
The representative of the municipality added that the stream water will be tested. This will aim to determine the actual cause of the sediment build-up.
The spring springs square was installed in 2022. The square is designed in such a way that you want to stay longer, sit on the benches, admire the works of art and Vilnius itself. According to the project of UAB "Vilniaus planas", walking paths have been arranged in Vingriu square, and the nearby slopes have been utilized by installing terraces with seating.
