In Vilnius, you can already see what a new place looks like - Šnipiškių Square. In the first days, there was a discussion of residents on social networks, in which they wondered why the metal structures were painted blue, although this was not the case in the visualizations. UAB "Vilniaus vystymo kompaniya" assures that the project was implemented according to the project, and no one coordinated the colors of the metal structures in the project.
Some are angry that the authors of the project chose the blue color, while others urge them to calm down and wait for spring in peace. After all, it is difficult to compare the winter image with the spring images that we see in the project visualizations. UAB "Vilniaus vystymo kompaniya" emphasizes that the full view of the square can be seen and appreciated in the spring, when the plants turn green and the lawn sprouts.
"The very idea and program of Šnipiškiau Square were presented in the project proposals. No code was specified for the colors of the metal structures, but they were intended to be analogous to those specified by the project developers in the technical design. There are no significant deviations from the design proposals in the technical design. The quantity and areas of green areas have been increased according to the comments expressed during the consideration of the project proposals", says the architect and head of the project part, Paulius Jonys.
The architect also notes that one should not rush to evaluate the new location of Vilnius just yet. It would be more logical to assess the overall picture when the project is completed and delivered. The true beauty of Šnipiškiu Square will open when spring comes, the snow and ice will disappear, and they will be replaced by green lawns and blooming plants.
The project was developed taking into account the needs of the community in order to equip this place with various functional areas suitable for spending leisure time. The main highlight of the square will be a roof-terrace, under which it will be possible to hold various events or fairs, and sit on the terrace to admire the view from above. A children's and sports area will also be established in the square.
Landscaping of the area will resemble a city garden with ornamental fruit trees - Manchurian walnut trees, broad-leaved pears, ornamental apple trees, as well as common chestnuts, willows and Japanese rowan will be planted.
