At the end of the winter holidays, Vilnius residents are invited to take decorated Christmas trees to the nearest collection point. About 100 such sites have been prepared in Vilnius. It will be possible to take Christmas trees to special collection points from January 6th, and they will be collected throughout the month.
Decorated fir trees must be left in special areas. The collected Christmas trees will be used for biofuel or taken to green waste composting sites. If a living spruce is not suitable for planting, experts advise to leave it without a pot on the site, as it can be sorted or used again.
Vilnius city municipality reminds that you cannot leave Christmas trees near mixed municipal waste containers or simply throw them where they fall.
Christmas trees can also be delivered to all large-sized and green waste collection sites in the Vilnius region. Potted Christmas trees are also accepted - they will later be transplanted in waste collection areas.
Save a live tree for the Christmas forest
If you decorated a tree growing in a pot for these holidays, don't throw it away, keep it until spring and plant it in the Vilnius Christmas forest. The Christmas forest is being created on the territory of the Verkiau Regional Park, near the Verkiau Palace. There are already about 80 mature sedges growing here.
Vilnius city parks specialists, who take care of the Christmas forest, noticed that the trees grown in certified Lithuanian nurseries are the best, while those brought from other countries have difficulty adapting to our climate.
It is planned that trees can be planted in the Christmas forest from March, but everything will depend on the weather conditions. The exact planting date will be announced on the page www.vilnius.lt/kaledumiskas.
Festive farewell to Christmas trees
The Vilnius Teachers' Home also invites you to say goodbye to the withered Christmas tree. The traditional, four-decade-old holiday "Stay Healthy, Christmas Tree" will take place at the Vilnius Teachers' House (Vilniaus St. 39, Vilnius) on January 6.
The organizers invite you to bring decorated Christmas trees, leave them in a place prepared for this and participate in the fun celebration together. For fun from 17.30:XNUMX p.m. will be led by the team of animators "Living Toys", and they will be assisted by the small actors of the Vilnius Teachers' Home Theater Studio "Bats".
From 18 p.m. for the children of the theater "Teatriukas", a musical interactive program in which cheerful songs and games will be played, and the actors will involve everyone in the action.
