Vilnius city municipalities, UABBeam" and the Valakampii volleyball community's cooperation is the result - two new beach volleyball courts have been installed at I Valakampii Beach, meeting international standards for beach volleyball courts.
After arriving at I Valakampiai beach, active leisure enthusiasts will no longer have to wait for one of the volleyball courts to become available - from now on, there are even six of them at the resort. In the near future, benches, trash cans, and an organized environment will be built nearby.
"The sports infrastructure on the capital's public beaches is constantly updated and improved. We always try to take into account the needs of Vilnius residents, so we are currently planning to prepare a beach maintenance standard that will help create and ensure the best conditions for those who want to relax in the capital city", says Gintautas Runovičius, head of the Urban Management and Environmental Protection Department of the Vilnius City Municipality.
Saulius Suveizdis, a representative of the active Valakampii volleyball community, says that he was pleasantly surprised by the operative and professional cooperation of the teams of the Urban Management and Environmental Protection Department of the Vilnius City Municipality and "Grinda" Urban Management Department with the volleyball community, which was the first to show the initiative to install additional beach volleyball courts at the Valakampii beach.
Although there are volleyball courts all over the city, according to S. Suveizdis, the flow of people in Valakampiai is probably the largest due to the opportunity not only to play volleyball, but also to bathe in the fresh water of the river after sunbathing. According to volleyball player S. Suveizdis, there are members of the community who have been coming to Valakampii to play beach volleyball every summer for more than 40 years, and those who live closer come every evening after work, so improving the public beach sports infrastructure is very significant for the community members.
"We are very grateful and proud that the volleyball courts of Valakampiai beach are covered with very good quality sand and equipped according to the highest requirements. On behalf of all Valakampii volleyball players, I say: thank you for your work. In comparison, colleagues from Palanga complain that at the rescue of the station, on the seafront, there is only one volleyball court and they can't seem to agree to install more. With great pride and a smile, I answer them that there are no problems in the capital", says S. Suveizdis, representative of the Valakampii volleyball community.
