Vilnius city municipality and Vilnius City Parks started building special feeders for wintering birds at the beginning of this week. Such feeders should appear in all city parks and squares. A total of 20 of them are promised to be built.
"At the moment, the birds are enjoying 6 feeders In Vingo Park and 1 – in the Park of the Marriage Palace. Until the beginning of January, we plan to build one feeder each in other parks or squares maintained by the city: Bernardina, Misionieria, Oz, Lukiškiu, Cvirka. We will donate several feeders to other areas of the city," it says Vilnius city municipalities in the message.
The municipality promises that information boards about birds and their feeding will be attached to the canopies of the feeders.
It is recommended to feed the birds when the weather cools down, when the ground is covered with snow, when it is more difficult for the birds to find food on their own.
