As the capital city authorities prepare to modernize the street lighting networks, for almost 16 million It is intended to purchase new lights and their management system for EUR XNUMX, and in addition, negotiations are already underway with banks regarding the financing of the project.
Sigitas Mocevičius, director of the municipal company Vilnius Street Lighting Electric Networks, told BNS that it is expected to have a contract with the bank financing the project by the summer of this year.
"Some financial institutions have partial solutions, others promise to submit them in April-May, then the city will choose. We want to have a contract with the bank by June," S. Mocevičius told BNS.
According to him, the modernization works will be carried out by the company's specialists.

This week, Vilnius street lighting electrical networks published the technical specifications of the upcoming equipment procurement tender on the central public procurement portal. They indicate that for 15,96 million It is intended to purchase LED street lights and a lighting control system for EUR. Applications from suppliers are expected until the beginning of June.

During the implementation of the project, it is intended to abandon the currently used sodium and metalhalide lamps (about 46 thousand in total), replacing them with modern LED lamps. Street lighting will be managed by a computerized remote lighting monitoring, management and control system.

After the implementation of the project, electricity costs should be reduced by half - about 11,7 million will be saved. kWh of electricity or more than 1 million euros per year.
In 2014, the Vilnius municipality signed a contract with the Italian company "Gemmo", which won the competition, but did not renew the contract in May 2015, because "Gemmo" did not fulfill the conditions and did not provide a list of banks that would finance the project.
