On Wednesday, the Vilnius Municipal Council made decisions regarding the takeover of the Lithuanian Children and Youth Center, the so-called Student House, from the state.
The municipal council seeks to take over the largest non-formal education institution in Lithuania from the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, which currently manages it.
"The center largely carries out non-formal education activities, and the Government and the Ministry declare their desire for the municipality to be the provider of non-formal education activities, as required by law. We agreed to include such an issue and seek to take over the center," Vytautas Mitalas, vice mayor of the capital, said on the eve of the BNS meeting.
After taking over the public institution and the buildings belonging to it, the state will also be asked to allocate more than 1,4 million for the maintenance of the institution. euros, the majority of which is allocated to employee salaries. The property would be transferred to this institution for 20 years.
According to V. Mitalo, the municipality, having taken over the institution, will seek to improve the efficiency of its activities.
"At the same time, we will review the center's operating regulations, the activities themselves, the processes that take place there, in order to ensure the best possible quality. I can't say that a reorganization will be undertaken, but it is definitely an improvement of operations," the vice-mayor asserted.
Capital cities Constitution Avenue Lithuanian Children and Youth Center is the largest non-formal education institution in Lithuania, which has a swimming pool, sports halls, organizes sports, arts and other activities for children, youth and adults, as well as various trainings for pedagogues.
