The municipality continues to expand the capacity of medical institutions to treat patients with the coronavirus and is urgently mobilizing not only personnel, but also the necessary medical and nursing equipment. Borrowed, donated, and purchased medical equipment travels to Vilnius city hospitals, which have already been delegated for the treatment of the coronavirus, or will be reorganized for this purpose if the need for such places increases.
Vilnius City Clinical Hospital (VMKL), which currently has 133 patients, reached 57 beds purchased with the funds of the companies "Fegda" and "Tilsta" yesterday. EUR worth of equipment: five high-flow oxygen therapy (High Flow) Airvo2 systems with an integrated flow generator and their necessary accessories, a vacuum aspirator, a video laryngoscope and seven syringe pumps.
"High flow oxygen therapy (High Flow) is the gold standard in order to prevent patient intubation when conventional oxygen therapy no longer helps, it is usually given to seriously ill patients in intensive care or intensive care wards," he commented. VMKL also received a donation from a French hospital this week. These are functional beds, mattresses, tables, etc. The municipality only had to cover the logistics costs.
Last week, on behalf of the municipal administration, at least 100 institutions were approached, requesting the loan of various equipment - functional and intensive care beds, oxygen concentrators, cardio monitors, etc. Some of the necessary tools have already been received as gifts.
The efforts of the Vilnius municipality to manage the coronavirus pandemic during the second wave are also supported by the Biok company. At the end of October, 4892 units were handed over to the municipality. disinfectant liquid worth 4,6 thousand euros.
At the same time, taking care to accumulate a sufficient reserve of measures for the control of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vilnius city municipality administration announced an urgent market consultation. Many items of medical equipment are planned for purchase, such as cardio monitors, pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, bacon stands, feeding pumps, EKG machines and others.
