The municipality continues to expand the capacity of medical institutions to treat patients with the coronavirus and is urgently mobilizing not only personnel, but also the necessary medical and nursing equipment. Borrowed, donated, and purchased medical equipment travels to Vilnius city hospitals, which have already been delegated for the treatment of the coronavirus, or will be reorganized for this purpose if the need for such places increases.

Vilnius City Clinical Hospital (VMKL), which currently has 133 patients, reached 57 beds purchased with the funds of the companies "Fegda" and "Tilsta" yesterday. EUR worth of equipment: five high-flow oxygen therapy (High Flow) Airvo2 systems with an integrated flow generator and their necessary accessories, a vacuum aspirator, a video laryngoscope and seven syringe pumps.

"High flow oxygen therapy (High Flow) is the gold standard in order to prevent patient intubation when conventional oxygen therapy no longer helps, it is usually given to seriously ill patients in intensive care or intensive care wards," he commented. Vilnius city municipalities Director of Administration Povilas Poderskis. - Timely administration of this therapy is greater than 50%. probability of avoiding patient intubation and artificial lung ventilation. So our concern is that medical facilities treating people with the coronavirus do not lack these high-flow oxygen therapy machines, as well as electric vacuum pumps, cardio monitors, blood pressure measuring machines. We will be happy to receive them as this time - gifts, we will look for them and buy them."

VMKL also received a donation from a French hospital this week. These are functional beds, mattresses, tables, etc. The municipality only had to cover the logistics costs.

Last week, on behalf of the municipal administration, at least 100 institutions were approached, requesting the loan of various equipment - functional and intensive care beds, oxygen concentrators, cardio monitors, etc. Some of the necessary tools have already been received as gifts.

The efforts of the Vilnius municipality to manage the coronavirus pandemic during the second wave are also supported by the Biok company. At the end of October, 4892 units were handed over to the municipality. disinfectant liquid worth 4,6 thousand euros.

At the same time, taking care to accumulate a sufficient reserve of measures for the control of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vilnius city municipality administration announced an urgent market consultation. Many items of medical equipment are planned for purchase, such as cardio monitors, pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, bacon stands, feeding pumps, EKG machines and others. We are also looking for beds, mattresses, bedding sets, medical clothing, etc. suppliers.

The market consultation will take place until 2020. November 20, that is, until this Friday. Market consultation material is available HERE.

All necessary tools Vilnius city municipality buys with the funds of his budget. The EU funds distributed by SAM in August of this year for the control of the coronavirus pandemic - about 50 million euros - did not reach Vilnius city hospitals.
