On Wednesday, the Government approved the proposal of the Ministry of the Environment to review and change the existing borders, protection and management measures of the Pavilniai Regional Park.
According to the ministry, the currently valid regional park planning documents were prepared in 2005-2008 and approved in 2009. Therefore, in the institution's opinion, the current means of managing the park territory are not always effective, the territories that have changed over the decade, the layout of the natural and cultural heritage, and the new needs of nature protection and visitors are not taken into account.
After the government approves the project, the preparation of the Pavilniai regional park planning scheme begins. During the preparation of this scheme, landscape management zones will be provided, measures will be determined to restore the damaged landscape, and the favorable condition of natural habitats of importance to the European Community will be ensured.
Funds for the implementation of the project are allocated to the State Service of Protected Areas.
