On Friday Vilnius city municipality on its website officially presented the "Geo Art" benches of contemporary art built by the Šeškina lake. This week, MadeinVilnius.lt wrote that these artistic benches cost the city 20 euros.
The artistic project "Geo Art" is another artistic project of "Kuriu Vilnių".
The ridge of glacial origin near the Šeškina lake was decorated with architectural objects of unique functional design "Reljefas", "Logika", and "Forma". Three metal origamis covered with wood - another winner of "Kuriu Vilnius" - artistic project "Geo Art".
"Ferrets oz is a protected ridge and an attraction for local residents, but not properly disclosed. The atypical environment inspired the work, which allows a group of people to come together and creatively use a very beautiful natural place", said the project's authors-architects Rasa Ilginė and Asta Musnikienė.
According to the authors, the location was chosen because of the high traffic from the surrounding apartment buildings and the untapped potential. Many families gather at the Šeškiuk lake, but the elements of small architecture are missing here. With this project, R. Ilginė and A. Morkūnienė sought to create an object of attraction for the local community, to reveal the concrete identity of the public space, to promote positive aesthetic and social changes in the place and community, and to encourage discussions on the topic of urban art.
The three-element art installation is designed for sitting, lying, climbing or meditating - everyone can find the right way to use it. The architects communicated with the Šeškinė community, which recognized the lack of artistic projects in the ward and approved the project. The new artistic work should become an object of attraction for schoolchildren, residents of Šeškinė and other Vilnius residents.
"Geo Art" is one of the 12 new "Kuriu Vilnių" projects, for the implementation of which 500 thousand was allocated. euros. 20 EUR is allocated for the implementation of the installation. This year, the competition received a record number of applications - as many as 500. The "Kuriu Vilnių" program initiated by the city revives the neglected spaces of the capital.
