"We feel the need for modern sports fields not only from the educational institutions themselves, but also from the communities. This month, we also signed contracts for the renovation of the Gabija and Žirmūnai gymnasium sports fields. Our goal is that the new sports fields maximally meet the needs of both schoolchildren and the surrounding residents," says the mayor of the city of Vilnius. Valdas Benkunskas.
During the project, it is planned to install two football fields with artificial grass, benches for reserve players with a rain cover, a 100 m long running track with a straight section for sprinting, a long jump pit, a fence, a ball catcher, and a grandstand for spectators. There will also be a universal sports field suitable for playing basketball, volleyball and square, a fence with ball traps. New engineering rain and lighting networks will be installed under the roofs, and a new video surveillance system will be built to ensure safety.
"We believe that the modern renovated playground of Lazdynai School will motivate schoolchildren to do more sports. Sports infrastructure facilities are one of the priority areas of our company. We already know that by the end of next year we will renovate the playgrounds of even three schools", says Director of the Finance Department of the Vilnius Development Company Karolina Sakalauskaitė, acting as the General Director.
The value of the Lazdynai gymnasium sports field contract is about 1,21 million. euros. At the beginning of June, contracts were signed for the renovation of Gabija and Žirmūnai gymnasiums. The value of the Gabija gymnasium sports field contract amounts to approximately 1,86 million. euros, the project contractor is UAB "Rolana".
