The fountain was last renovated in 2014. At that time, the fountain's rusty spray equipment was replaced - new nozzles were installed, waterproofing was repaired, and water treatment equipment was updated. The Washington Square Fountain will be reborn this summer - renovation work on the fountain began last December. The dismantling of the bottom plates, worn-out circulation pipes, electrical wiring, the fountain's water circulation system, and the underground pumping station is planned to be completed by May.
"After the dismantling work is completed, it is planned to install a new fountain bottom, water basin curbs, waterproofing, a new circulation pipeline, new electrical installation, underwater colored lighting, water purification and disinfection systems, a new pumping station and electrical equipment control panel," says Gintautas Niaura, Vilnius city municipalities Head of the Transport and Communications Department.
In addition, the municipality plans to renovate the nearby flower garden in the spring.
The renovation of the fountain in Washington Square will cost more than 167 thousand. euros.
