As soon as it rained, the grass that had grown up in the capital's green spaces began to be mowed. During the whole season, nearly 3 thousand mows are usually mowed in Vilnius. hectare area (equivalent to 4 thousand football fields). An arsenal of various equipment was used to help - over 200 tractors, manual lawnmowers and lawnmowers. Several companies are responsible for timely and high-quality mowing of grass in the city: "Mano aplinka", "Stebulė" and "VSA Vilnius".
First, the grass is cut near representative streets, roundabouts, squares, and later also near residential houses. Taking into account the height and growth rate of the grass, first of all it is managed near the high traffic and main streets, then the grass is cut along the rest of the streets.

"This year, we started haying at a similar time as last year - in the first days of May. Haying is planned until the end of the season - October. If previously the grass was cut only as many times as stipulated in the contracts with the city managers, from now on the grass will be cut as needed - taking into account the height of the grass: in the central part of the city, squares and squares must be mowed when the grass reaches a height of 5 cm", - said Gintautas Runovičius, Head of the Department of Urban Management and Environmental Protection.
According to the municipality's urban management and environmental protection specialists, the height of the grass after mowing should be between 2 cm and 5 cm. Street dividers and green spaces belonging to the street and yard lawns must be mowed when the grass reaches a height of no more than 5-10 cm. After mowing, the grass should be between 3 cm and 5 cm high.

During the first few days of May, the green spaces around Konstitucijos Avenue, the rings of main streets, the dividing lines of Narbutos, Geležinis Vilkas, Baltupios, Minties, Šilas, Verkių, Pylimėlių, Justiniškių streets, Laisvės prospekt streets, etc., have already been fixed. This week, the works will move Oz, Narbut, Krivii, Filareti, Jasinskis, Pamėnkalnis, Basanavičiaus, Konarskis Vasaris 16-osios, Jakštas, Žalgiris and other streets and yards, Old Town Squares.
Street and yard lawns are mowed by mulching the grass, that is, leaving the cut grass on the soil surface. In this case, mowed areas not only do not need to be cleaned and raked, but a constant soil temperature is maintained, moisture reserves are preserved, and better conditions are created for microorganisms living in it. In undeveloped areas, on slopes, the grass is mowed by chopping it, raking it and taking the mowed grass to the green waste dump.
Specialists of the city management and environmental protection department, together with the city managers, constantly check the quality of the work being performed. Inspection reports and financial penalties are applied to city maintenance companies for shoddy work. We encourage residents of Vilnius to notify Rasa Ražanskienei by e-mail if they notice areas that have not been mowed. by post [email protected] or phone: (8 5) 2112135. Lawn robots
