UAB "Beam" reports that the spring stream has been turned on again in Vingriau Square after the winter break.
"This place is far from being known to everyone. Next to modern Museum of Mo located in Vingriau Square was created where abundant springs gushed from the steep slope, from the time of Grand Duke Algird until the 20th century. supplying water to the homes of Vilnius residents.
Now Vingria water is no longer used for food, but the springs are still alive! After fixing the square, the water from the Vingria springs, which were invisible for a long time, has been brought to the surface and flows through an open channel, which ends in a spiral pool", writes UAB "Grinda".
š Vingria springs from the Middle Ages until the XNUMXth century. water was supplied to townspeople's houses. The gurgling water in the square even today reminds us that here was the most important watering place in Vilnius, providing drinking water to many Vilnius residents. The historic watering place has been re-marked - the spring water has been brought to the surface and flows through a special open channel that ends in a spiral pool.
We remind you that Vingria Square was opened in 2022. October 18 It used to be a transit-filled, car-clogged street. From now on, the square will be dedicated to pedestrians who can quickly get from the Old Town to the New Town and will serve as a space for leisure.
It is located in the neighborhood of Vingriau Square MO Museum dedicated seven contemporary art sculptures to the public space. They form a unified continuation of the outdoor exposition of the MO Museum.
