The square near the "Morning" sculpture
The public space - the square near the "Ryto" sculpture, is located in the northern part of Lazdynai between Architektų st. 152, 158 and surrounding apartment buildings. Next to the square is the former shopping and service center "Hazelnuts". Currently, there is a shop in those premises "Maxima"and several cafes. In the center of the square stands the sculpture "Morning" by the sculptor Gediminas Karalias, built in 1975, which is included in the register of immovable cultural heritage values, just like the residential area of Lazdynai itself. This sculpture, called "horse" by the people of Lazdyna, was a popular symbol of Vilnius during the Soviet era and one of the most prominent sculptures of that time. Even today, it remains an important decoration of Lazdynai and a permanent meeting place for local residents.
One of the most valuable features of the Lazdyna district is the open spaces formed by loosely planned groups of apartment buildings, natural terrain and pine forests. These spaces are well balanced, functionally and visually related to the environment without losing the "human" scale. The examined territory covers about 0.7 ha and is important for the Lazdynai community as a place for gatherings and celebrations. There is a Christmas tree in the square, which residents decorate at Christmas, and there are also several maple trees. In the solutions of the general plan, the territory falls into the functional zone of intensively used greenery.
