Institutions seeking to invite international events to Vilnius will now have one of the most advanced technological tools in Europe. The Vilnius development agency "Go Vilnius" is transferring 3D models of various spaces in the city to the digital space, which will be shared with foreign event organizers who cannot come to Lithuania at the moment. This will allow you to offer your services even without physical examinations.
International conferences and others events constitutes a very large part of the income of hotels, educational institutions and other spaces. However, it is currently more difficult to plan events, even in the distant future, because the event organizers cannot come to inspect the spaces suitable for them. This process will be facilitated by the models of the most popular event spaces in Vilnius that have appeared in the virtual space. In them, you can not only take a virtual walk and view the premises from different angles, but also measure the required distances.
According to the director of Go Vilnius, Inga Romanovskienė, while the opportunities to travel around the world remain limited, virtual tours of spaces will be an especially important sales tool, which can be used freely by all institutions participating in the project, as well as by event organizers or event service companies. However, even when the rhythm of travel returns to a steady state, the tool will allow certain decisions to be made more efficiently.
"Even though there are currently no major events taking place, it is now necessary to fill the calendars with future conferences so that when the market recovers, as many of them as possible return to Vilnius." For this, it is very important that, even if they are unable to come to the city in person, the organizers of the events can get the most detailed picture of the possibilities in it. The new digital tool is also important as an excellent illustration of the city's technological progress, allowing to strengthen the competitiveness of Vilnius in the market of international events", says Inga Romanovskienė, director of Go Vilnius.
Gerhard Erasmus, who heads the Apex Alliance Hotel Management group for Hilton, Marriott and other well-known brands, assures that the digitization process of hotel spaces is extremely relevant in this period, as the needs and behavior of customers have changed very quickly.
"Such innovative tools that ensure a smooth user experience during sales strengthen the competitive advantage of our hotels in the international market and allow each customer to get a detailed introduction to our spaces by individually assessing the technical aspects that are relevant to them - layout of spaces, interior, technical solutions, etc. In the near future, the digitization of hotel processes will gain even greater momentum, so it is extremely important to be one step ahead now," says G. Erasmus.
According to Jurgita Jurkonė, head of the conference organization agency "Seven Tips", 3D models of event spaces are important not only for the managers or organizers of hotels and other spaces, but will also provide new opportunities for business and scientific event participants: "For example, exhibition participants will be able to plan their events more clearly when they see the spaces participation in exhibitions - this opportunity will be completely new for them."
By mid-summer, it is planned to digitize 35 spaces suitable for conferences and other events, including hotels, scientific and art institutions, museums. Among the spaces being prepared for digitization are the Palace of Governors, the National Martynas Mažvydas Library, Vilnius Tech Park, VU Life Sciences Center and other places suitable for scientific, business, and cultural events. Later, the project will be continued, adding new spaces to it. Digitization works are carried out at the initiative of the agency "Go Vilnius", thus aiming to help the recovery of one of the sectors most affected by the pandemic and to strengthen the competitiveness of the city.
The premises can be viewed in several dimensions - both by walking around the spaces represented in 3D format and by seeing the general view from above, which allows you to assess the floor plans and plan the logistical details of the event. A very important function for organizers of events, especially conferences, is the ability to measure distances in space. This not only allows you to assess the space when viewing it for the first time, but is also important after the planning of the event is already well underway: every time you want to check certain details of the layout of the event, it is not necessary to physically go to the place.
