Vilnius district the municipality informs that it has received a letter from the State Food and Veterinary Service (VMVT) Vilnius Department about the fact that last week in the village of Galinė, (Avižienių sen., Vilnius region) a bird flu virus (type A) was detected in a stork carcass found.
VMVT specialists have marked the highly pathogenic avian flu virus infected area with informational signs - visiting people and feeding wild birds in this area is not recommended.
Together with VMVT specialists, the municipality urges residents to observe safety measures and provides basic recommendations.
Bird keepers are advised to:
- to keep the birds in closed premises and not to let them out or to let them out only in outdoor areas, equipped in such a way that domestic birds cannot have direct contact with wild birds;
- do not use open surface water bodies for watering poultry;
- store poultry feed in such a way that it is protected from wild birds and other animals;
- avoid contact with wild (especially water) birds, do not feed them;
- do not visit places marked "LPG infected place".
