Vilnius district The municipality is taking a significant step in improving healthcare services – a completely new, four-story, modern supportive care and nursing hospital is planned to be built in the Riešės eldership, Kalino village, Kalino St. 1. It will replace the existing, outdated buildings and significantly expand the range of services provided and accessibility for patients.

The mayor of Vilnius District Municipality, Robert Duchnevič, emphasizes that this is not only an infrastructure renovation project, but also a long-term investment in a better quality of life for the residents of the district.

"The village of Kalina will not only have more places for patients - significantly better conditions for treatment and care will be created here. This is a significant step in improving the accessibility and quality of medical care throughout the country." in Vilnius district"The Riešės supportive care and nursing hospital construction project was presented to the public back in 2023, but seeing the constantly growing need for long-term care services, at the beginning of this year we met with designers, administration specialists and representatives of health institutions to find solutions on how to maximally expand the range of services and modernize the infrastructure. The new project will ensure that significantly more residents receive dignified and high-quality services, and the staff will work in a modern, safe and patient-friendly environment," says Mayor R. Duchnevič.

The new building will accommodate as many as 119 patient beds (instead of the current 30), will feature double and single wards, relaxation areas, social spaces, a chapel, a day hospital, and services will be adapted to patients with various conditions – from general care to palliative care. The building will be fully accessible to people with disabilities.

The hospital will cover an area of almost 5 sq. meters (currently 567 sq. meters). The project will use modern architectural and technological measures to ensure both patient comfort and efficient staff work.

The vice-mayor of Vilnius District Municipality, Edita Tamošiūnaitė, also speaks about the social importance of the planned facility.

"This hospital will not only be functional, but also focused on human dignity - a cozy, modern environment with green areas is being created, maple trees and decorative herbaceous plants are planned to be planted. Instead of old buildings that no longer meet modern standards, more patient beds will be installed and the range of services will be expanded. The modern, four-story building will be adapted to care for patients with various conditions - from people with dementia to palliative care in a day hospital. All spaces will be arranged in a way that ensures smooth service provision and comfort for both patients and staff," says Vice Mayor E. Tamošiūnaitė.

The total project budget is more than 4 million euros. The project is financed from the state budget, European Union funds and municipal funds. It is expected that construction work will begin in 2026, and the project will be implemented by 2029.

Jau this year May 23rd at 15.00:XNUMX p.m. All interested parties are invited to review the project proposals and participate in a remote public meeting. During the meeting, the planned works will be presented, and residents will be able to ask questions and express their opinions.
