Vilnius district The municipality is taking a significant step in improving healthcare services – a completely new, four-story, modern supportive care and nursing hospital is planned to be built in the Riešės eldership, Kalino village, Kalino St. 1. It will replace the existing, outdated buildings and significantly expand the range of services provided and accessibility for patients.
The mayor of Vilnius District Municipality, Robert Duchnevič, emphasizes that this is not only an infrastructure renovation project, but also a long-term investment in a better quality of life for the residents of the district.

The new project will ensure that significantly more residents receive dignified and high-quality services, and the staff will work in a modern, safe and patient-friendly environment," says Mayor R. Duchnevič.
The new building will accommodate as many as 119 patient beds (instead of the current 30), will feature double and single wards, relaxation areas, social spaces, a chapel, a day hospital, and services will be adapted to patients with various conditions – from general care to palliative care. The building will be fully accessible to people with disabilities.
The hospital will cover an area of almost 5 sq. meters (currently 567 sq. meters). The project will use modern architectural and technological measures to ensure both patient comfort and efficient staff work.
The vice-mayor of Vilnius District Municipality, Edita Tamošiūnaitė, also speaks about the social importance of the planned facility.
"This hospital will not only be functional, but also focused on human dignity - a cozy, modern environment with green areas is being created, maple trees and decorative herbaceous plants are planned to be planted. Instead of old buildings that no longer meet modern standards, more patient beds will be installed and the range of services will be expanded. The modern, four-story building will be adapted to care for patients with various conditions - from people with dementia to palliative care in a day hospital. All spaces will be arranged in a way that ensures smooth service provision and comfort for both patients and staff," says Vice Mayor E. Tamošiūnaitė.
The total project budget is more than 4 million euros. The project is financed from the state budget, European Union funds and municipal funds. It is expected that construction work will begin in 2026, and the project will be implemented by 2029.
