The Ministry of the Environment informs that forest violations Vilnius district The municipality has reached the level of a natural disaster in forests. Most new outbreaks are detected near former bark beetle outbreaks, spruce windbreaks and spruce forests growing on the edges of clear-cut areas. The aforementioned municipality is starting to apply special protection and disaster relief measures in forests.
According to the State Forest Service, the volume of dried and drying stands in the territory of this municipality due to damage by the bark beetle has reached 25 thousand cubic meters.
We remind you that after a natural disaster is declared, forest managers, owners and users must inspect their forest holdings within 10 calendar days, re-survey stands at least every two weeks, and not carry out regular fellings or non-clearance main fellings in spruce forests, except for the last case of occasional main fellings.
Permits for eliminating the consequences of natural disasters in forests will be issued on an urgent basis. However, felled wood with dangerous pests on tree trunks must be removed no closer than 1 km from the edge of the spruce forest or the bark must be peeled off before pupation occurs.
After pupae or young beetles have hatched, remove the wood from the forest no later than 3 working days after felling, mechanically peel the bark, shred it or protect it so that no pupae or new generation of adults of dangerous pests of living tree trunks remain under the bark.
Cut down green and pest-free spruce wood must also be removed no closer than 1 km from the edge of the spruce forest, or the bark must be peeled off or protected by other means so that pupae and new generations of adults of dangerous pests of living tree trunks do not appear under the bark of the trees.
In addition, after the declaration of a natural disaster, it is mandatory to refrain from carrying out clear-cutting of primary forests in spruce forests whose species composition contains 2025% or more spruce, and in stands where there are no bark beetle typographer violations registered in the past two years, until 31 August 50.
The State Forest Service advises on the application of special protection and disaster relief measures in forests. It also monitors the populations of the bark beetle typographers throughout the country and provides information and forecasts, and collects information on the application of special protection and disaster relief measures in forests.
If you notice damage caused by bark beetles or wind damage in your forest holding, you must report it to the State Forest Service within 5 calendar days.
