in Vilnius district An important educational infrastructure development project is being implemented – Avižieniai Gymnasium will have a new three-story extension. On May 15, a contract for construction works worth more than 2,7 million euros was signed, on the basis of which it is planned to fundamentally modernize educational conditions and significantly increase the capacity of this gymnasium.
According to Vilnius district According to the mayor of the municipality, Robert Duchnevičius, this is a consistent step in modernizing the educational infrastructure and ensuring quality education in rapidly growing areas.
"The rapidly growing Avižieniai settlement dictates the need for modern and sustainable solutions. Educational infrastructure must grow together with the community - therefore, this project will not only open up more opportunities for children to learn, but will also ensure a safe, modern educational environment. We are creating a place where every child will have the conditions to grow, develop and achieve their goals. I am glad that we can contribute to the creation of high-quality education adapted to the needs of the future," says Mayor R. Duchnevič.
It is planned that the new extension, with a total area of approximately 1902 sq. m, will accommodate preschool groups, information technology and science classrooms, a library, administrative premises and spaces for educators. The new extension is expected to accommodate approximately 200 students.
Three preschool classrooms are planned on the first floor, which will accommodate up to 60 children. Each classroom will have a locker room, a recreation room, a common area and sanitary facilities. Two IT classrooms, a library, a teachers' room and administration offices are planned on the second floor. The third floor will house science classrooms with auxiliary rooms and laboratories.
The building will be equipped with an elevator, ensuring convenient access to all floors for people with mobility disabilities.
An integral part of the project is the renovation of the environmental infrastructure: it is planned to install pedestrian paths, new crossings, electric vehicle charging stations, and the entire territory will be landscaped.
The work is scheduled to be completed within 18 months, with the possibility of an extension of two more months. The new extension is expected to open its doors by the end of 2026.
