Taking into account the growing number of elderly people and the increasing need for long-term social care services, Vilnius district The municipality will implement an important social infrastructure development project – the establishment of new social care homes in the village of Senasalis, Rukainiai eldership.
According to Roberts Duchnevičius, Mayor of Vilnius District Municipality, this project is an integral part of the municipality's long-term strategy, which aims to ensure high-quality and accessible services for every resident of the district, regardless of their age or health status.
"The establishment of new care homes is not only an infrastructure development, but also an important step in improving the quality of life of our elderly residents. We aim to ensure that every person who needs help receives it with dignity, close to home, in a community where they feel safe. This is respect for people and responsibility for every resident of the district. It is planned that after the implementation of this project, the availability of social care services in Vilnius district will improve significantly, and long-term care will become more accessible to those who need it most,” says Mayor R. Duchnevič.
The goal of the project is to increase the supply of long-term social care for residents of the district by creating an additional 40 places where elderly people will be able to receive full-fledged, dignified services.
This new facility will be built at Senasalio g. 79, Senasalio k., Rukainiai sen., Vilnius district. The existing building there will be demolished, and a modern, A++ energy class building will be erected in its place. The project is planned to be implemented by the end of 2028.
According to Algis Vaitkevičius, Vice Mayor of Vilnius District Municipality, the new care home is a significant step in strengthening social care in the Vilnius District.
"The project aims not only to ensure the necessary living conditions, but also to create opportunities for the elderly to express themselves and maintain their independence. Residents will be encouraged to maintain ties with family and society, and to live a full life, regardless of their physical or social challenges," says Vice Mayor A. Vaitkevičius.
The preliminary value of the project is 2,95 million euros, of which EU funds are 1,1 million euros, state budget funds are 0,77 million euros, and municipal budget funds are 1,08 million euros.
The construction of new social care homes is planned in the Vilnius District Municipality's strategic action plan for 2024–2026.
