The situation regarding the removal of mixed waste after a fire at a waste sorting plant in Vilnius in Vilnius district successfully managed. The municipal utility companies worked at full capacity throughout the weekend - thanks to intensive work, waste collection throughout the district is now taking place according to the usual schedule.

"Although the situation was extraordinary, we worked without counting working hours and we are already seeing the results - today the waste collection process in the Vilnius district has returned to normal," he says. Vilnius district Director of the municipal administration Vytautas Vansavičius.
Considering the consequences of the fire and the possible inconvenience to residents, Vilnius District Municipality immediately took action to ensure that waste removal services were provided as smoothly as possible. The utility companies UAB "Nemenčinės komunalininkas" and UAB "Nemėžio komunalininkas" worked intensively, including on non-working days and weekends. In three days, they managed to remove more than 326 tons of accumulated mixed municipal waste.
The municipality will continue to monitor the situation and respond immediately if any unforeseen disruptions occur.
