In order to improve the accessibility and quality of primary personal and public health care services, Vilnius district municipality, in cooperation with the Warmia-Masuria Lung Disease Center (Poland), will implement the project "Lithuanian-Polish Mobile Health Services Initiatives", funded under the Interreg VA Lithuania-Poland 2021-2027 Cooperation Programme.
During the project, 2 mobile clinics (for family doctor and dental services) and 1 mobile clinic (for lung examinations) were purchased in Lithuania in Poland, mobile healthcare services will be organized in municipalities. Payment for the services will be made from the budget of the compulsory health insurance fund.
"This project is a significant step in ensuring equal access to health services for all residents of the district, regardless of their place of residence. Mobile clinics will allow us to reach the most remote areas and offer quality health care services to those who, for various reasons, face difficulties in obtaining the necessary medical care. We are pleased to be able to cooperate with our colleagues from Poland and together contribute to improving the health system in both countries," says Robert Duchnevič, Mayor of Vilnius District Municipality.
"Family doctor and dentist services will become more accessible to residents of Vilnius District, especially older people and those who cannot regularly visit regular medical institutions due to transport or mobility difficulties. Geographical barriers and communication difficulties often become a decisive factor, due to which patients come to doctors with advanced diseases. Mobile clinics are an innovative solution that allows us to overcome these barriers and bring quality healthcare directly to people's living environments, ensuring regular and timely prophylaxis," says Edita Tamošiūnaitė, Vice Mayor of Vilnius District Municipality.
The total value of the project is approximately 747 thousand euros. Vilnius District Municipality will ensure partial financing of the project - at least 20 percent of all eligible costs (approximately EUR 93 thousand) and will cover costs that are not eligible for financing but are necessary for the project.
