The project "Development of community accommodation and employment services for persons with intellectual and mental disabilities in the Vilnius region" is an investment project approved by the Transition from institutional care to family and community services for disabled children and children left without parental care in 2014-2020. action plan. The measures of the action program are intended to implement the project "From care to possibilities: development of community services" financed by the European Union Structural Funds, the aim of which is to increase the independence of persons of working age with disabilities, thereby providing the opportunity to live in the community according to their needs by providing assistance. All municipalities by region participate in this investment project.
Trakai district municipality submitted the project "Development of community accommodation services for persons with mental and/or mental disabilities in Trakai district". The amount of 394 euros was allocated for the establishment of a social institution for group housing.
The applicant of the project is the administration of the municipality of Trakai district. The partners are the "Viltis" association for the care of people with impaired intelligence in Lithuania and the Nijolė Genytė social care home. After the implementation of the project, 10 persons with disabilities will live in the group home. Among them: 7 persons from the Nijolė Genytė social care home and 3 persons - residents of the Trakai district. All persons will receive daily employment services at the Public Employment Service Trakai Employment Center for the Disabled.
The project will include the construction of group living houses at the address - Trakai district municipality, Lentvaris city, Smilgų st. 2. Acquired in the 15th century. a plot of land in a residential area where it is planned to build 230 sq. m one-story residential house by adapting it for persons with mobility disabilities for normal life, arranging, fencing and planting the territory. The purpose of the building is residential, that is, it will not be built as an institution, but as a house, which will provide disabled persons with the opportunity to live their daily lives in an integral manner, promote independence and full participation in the community.
