The famous Rudamina farmers' market in the Vilnius region is planned to be renovated. According to the representatives of the district, there will not be more shops, but there will be more attractive and comfortable working conditions.
According to Jolanta Gulbinovič, head of the municipality's Public and International Relations Department, the improvement of the infrastructure of the marketplace should encourage the villagers to sell their products more.
"Rudamina market is popular among local residents and visitors, it is used by many traders from the neighboring settlements of Šalčininkai district municipality," J. Gulbinovič told BNS.
Among other things, it is expected that a larger offer and renovated shopping places will encourage buyers not only from Vilnius, but also from other districts to visit the market place.
It is planned that the works will start in June next year and will last about a year.
It is planned to install outdoor pavilions and canopies with stalls at the market place, arrange the infrastructure, and several wider sales points for traders with disabilities.
In addition, the territory of the marketplace is planned to be expanded to 1,4 hectares, but the number of places will not change fundamentally - about 250 merchants will be able to trade. The territory will be divided into six zones - trade in food products, cars, clothes, household goods, farm implements and tools, plants, small animals and fodder.
After the repair of the pavilion, the administration and veterinary control of the market place will be located in it instead of the traders. In addition, it is planned to install parking lots and bicycle racks.
