Summer visitors flocking to Trakai during the warm season will be treated to a new entertainment experience. From May 10, the Hexa Cinema cinema will open its doors here, showing three virtual reality (VR) films created by Lithuanian film and animation professionals. The cinema will be located in the very center of Trakai – Karaimų g. 57, next to the coastal path and the observation deck in front of the Sala Castle. This is the sixth city where Hexa Cinema will operate, and during the summer months, viewers will also be invited to other Lithuanian resorts.
"Thousands of people come to Trakai every year, looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of big cities, wanting to enjoy the unique landscape and variety of entertainment. We are pleased to present another leisure alternative - virtual reality films, which combine art, cultural value and advanced technologies. Since we have three different Lithuanian films in our repertoire, we can offer content for a diverse audience. In addition, the VR cinema format itself is perfect for visiting in Trakai “The sessions last about half an hour, so this experience is easy to combine with a walk, a tasting of kibiņas, or a tour of the castle,” shares Mindaugas Kazlauskas, the head of cinema spaces at Hexa Cinema.
Hexa Cinema offers virtual reality experiences in five major Lithuanian cities. Since 2023, three original Lithuanian films have already been presented in these cities. Director D. Ulvydas' "I am Lithuania" invites you to admire more than 360 of the most impressive places in our country from a 30-degree angle. The film "Playing Life", created based on the paintings and stories of Algis Kriščiūnas, was presented in the competition program of the prestigious Venice Film Festival and won the "Golden Alexander" award in Greece. This winter, the animated VR experience "Arklios Dominykas vyložena ī svetledzes" (The Journey of the Horse to the Stars) also reached cinemas for families, in which the characters of Vytautas V. Landsbergis' books come to life.
"By visiting our virtual reality cinema space, you can travel almost the entire country of Lithuania in just half an hour - it's a great way to introduce the beauty of the country to guests from abroad or enrich the afternoon with inspiring patriotic content. For those who want an emotional experience and artistic visual solutions, we offer you to get to know the work of Algis Kriščiūnas up close and as if you were inside the paintings yourself. And if you come to Trakai with children, we invite you to embark on a space odyssey together with your beloved book heroes. This summer we are planning more news - the seasonal "Hexa Cinema" cinema space will be located in Palanga, as it does every year, but we also intend to welcome vacationers in other popular Lithuanian resorts," says M. Kazlauskas.
The Hexa Cinema cinema space in Trakai, at Karaimų g. 57, will be open every day of the week – from 12:20 to XNUMX:XNUMX. Virtual reality films will be shown here in Lithuanian and English. Visitors are invited to purchase tickets for film screenings online or on site.
