After the inspection by the officials of the Department of Environmental Protection, 16,42 tons of tires and other waste were removed from Čižiūnai village, Trakai district.
April 3 of this year. Environmental Protection Department officials, while conducting a field trip in Čižiūnai village, Trakai district, noticed used car tires and other waste (old slate, polyethylene waste) in one plot.
During the inspection, it was not possible to identify the persons who left the waste, therefore the user of the land plot - Trakai district municipality - is obliged to dispose of the waste.
The municipality of Trakai district kindly agreed to manage the waste, but due to its large amount, the waste was delivered to the legal waste handlers several times. In September of this year 6th The administration of the municipality of Trakai district informed that the waste has been sorted. A total of 16,42 t of tires were exported, of which: 6,22 t were exported by UAB "Ekobāze" and 10,2 t by UAB "Antrinio peredimiko grupė".
Environmentalists remind that plot owners must take care of their property so that the ecological condition of the environment does not deteriorate and plots do not become waste storage facilities.
Tvarkaulieutuva.lt is a convenient way to report contaminated areas in the country
The Department of Environmental Protection, strengthening waste management in the country, has created an interactive map at urkaulieutuva.lt. On this map, residents can mark not only waste-contaminated territories, but also about damaged forest roads and destroyed forest floor. Residents are asked to provide as much detailed information as possible: add photos, mark the coordinates, describe the situation in as much detail as possible and thus contribute to the preservation of the environment.
