This year, the promotion will take place in Lithuania and Latvia over two weekends - May 4-6. in Latvia and on May 11-13. In Lithuania. The two dates were chosen so that visitors could visit not only the homesteads and farms of their home country, but also the neighboring country.
"This year, as many as 200 different service providers are participating in the campaign, so it is not only a unique opportunity to get to know village life, but also to see with your own eyes how the products that end up on our tables are born: how smoking is done fish is bread baked, what is the milk or honey route," says Linas Žabaliūnas, president of the Lithuanian Rural Tourism Association. Accommodation service providers, craftsmen, bathers, food producers, beekeepers, farmers, castles and estates, museums, community centers, rural restaurants, nature trails and much more. All campaign participants can be found on the campaign page www.atostogoskaime.lt/atviros-dienos-kaime.
Why is it worth traveling during the campaign "Open days in the village"?
First of all, on promotion days, hosts offer specially organized events, entertainment and discounts. In Lithuania, campaign participants entice visitors with various offers, such as: "How to eat a flower nursery", "Listening to a spring bird choir concert", "Pamaris kite festival", "Barefoot to adventure" and many others. Second of all, it is a unique opportunity to visit farmers, who usually spend more time on production or trading in the markets, but this time they will be waiting at the guest house. Thirdly, you will rarely have the opportunity to visit so many different farms and homesteads at the same time, so it is a unique opportunity to go on a trip visiting interesting places throughout Lithuania and Latvia.
Latvian farms and homesteads also participate in the campaign. After visiting both countries, visitors will be able to compare the more beautiful homesteads and tastier rural delicacies. In Latvia, visitors will be able to learn how to make ice cream or the legendary "Karvutė" sweets, take part in "creating a bed of 100 lavenders for Latvia", homemade cheese making and many other educations in educational programs in Latvia. On the occasion of Latvia's centenary, many farms and homesteads invite guests to the "White Tablecloth Festival", where delicacies, concerts, markets of rural goods and sightseeing tours await.
