Belarus does not have nuclear weapons - it only has their launch systems, Oleh Ivashchenko, the head of Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service, said in an interview with the Ukrinform news agency.
"Nuclear weapons carriers are deployed there. This is a real fact. There are planes, Iskander missiles there. However, there are no nuclear weapons in Belarus. This is proven," he said.
In response to another question, O. Ivashchenko confirmed that there are currently no warheads in Belarus.
"They are setting up storage facilities, preparing themselves, building something. Lukashenko claims that by the end of the year the Oreshnik (medium-range ballistic missile system) will be deployed. But this is more like a dream. So far, they have nothing like that and most likely will not have anything," the head of the foreign intelligence service added.
In December 2024, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko declared that his country possessed tactical nuclear weapons.
